How to share images with your patient
This feature is available to Sonio Share users only.
If you don’t currently have access and would like to learn more, please contact your dedicated Account Manager.
- From your dashboard, open an exam by clicking on View Exam or Prep Exam
- Click on Media Gallery icon
- In the top right corner, click on Share
- Select the images you wish to share with your patient (depending on your settings, some images may already be pre-selected).
[Optional] If you want to upload a PDF document to share with the patient, click on the Documents tab. In the drop-down menu that appears, click on Upload a document.
This will open a new window. You can drag and drop your files into the window, otherwise click on browse to upload the files from your device. - When you have finished selecting the media you wish to share and are ready to proceed, click Share.
- From here, you have 3 options:
1) QR Code - Ask the patient to simply scan the QR code with their smartphone. Many newer phones will come with a native QR scanner - they will need to point their camera at QR code and tap on the link that appears in the middle of the screen.
2) Secure Email Link - You can send the patient their ultrasound media via a secure email link. If not pre-filled from your EHR, enter their email into the field “Share The Link By Email” and click the → button. The patient will receive an email containing a secure URL link.
3) Print QR Code - You have the option to print the QR code to give to the patient. - The Shared icon will turn yellow when you have successfully shared with your patient.
- To view the shared details click on the QR code icon.
- You can also track the sending status directly in the dashboard by adding a column to indicate whether the patient has viewed the images.
Other important info:
- The 3 letters of the patient's name needed to log in are displayed right under the QR code
-
The workflow is intuitive - patients don’t need to download any apps or create accounts.
-
If patients experience any issues accessing the link or have questions, our support team is available, so your practice doesn’t need to handle them.
-
The link remains active for 12 months, allowing patients to revisit their journey long after the appointment.
