How to correct an MRN number
Note: The MRN cannot be modified the same way the patient name or DOB can. You must use a workaround.
This guide covers the case where an MRN was entered incorrectly on the ultrasound machine, which created a patient in Sonio with the wrong MRN.
When this happens, there are two possible scenarios:
- This was not the patient’s first exam, so there is already a patient profile in Sonio with the correct MRN.
- This was the patient’s first exam, so there is only one profile in Sonio, and it has the wrong MRN.
If this is the first scenario:
- Associate the exam that is under the profile with the wrong MRN to the patient with the correct MRN by following this process: here.
If this was the patient’s first exam:
- Re-create the patient with the correct information. To do this, follow the same steps you would use to perform an exam so that a correct profile is created in Sonio.
- You do not need to scan the patient. You only need to send one DICOM image so the information is transmitted from the machine to Sonio (a screenshot or an empty ultrasound image).
- Once done, a patient in Sonio will be created with all the correct information. You can then go to the profile with the wrong MRN and associate the examination to the profile you just created using the following process: here.
As a good practice:
- Delete the empty exam you used to create the correct profile.
- Delete the patient profile with the wrong MRN.
